Then & Now

Then:
"
The Prophet said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up.

1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.

2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.

3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.

4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."
"

Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 33:

Now:
"Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up.

1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.

2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.

3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.

4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

Companion #1: "You can't say that."

Companion #2: "I know many pious people who lie, and they're much better than you and me."

Companion #3: "You shouldn't pass judgement on people."

Companion #4: "Maybe they mean well when they lie."

Companion #5: "We shouldn't worry about these small issues. There are bigger issues facing the ummah."

Brother, there are some things that when I read in Qu'ran...it makes me want to poop in my pants.

So first my mind tries to deny it...make up excuses....it's natural human reflex.

Then, I think about it....really think and contemplate...Aristotle style.

It's not until you finally figure it out, or apply it to life, that you begin to understand...that Truth does not need you, neither does Allah. So you either follow truth or damn yourself...excuses won't help...or change the truth.
