Whirlwind of Thoughts in Irfonix

by Muhammad Irfan Shariff

I fear His wrath

I fear His wrath

I love His mercy

I thank Him as much as I can remember

As much saliva is left upon my tounge

And when I forget it is because of my mistake, my weaknesses

As for `Ad, they were arrogant in the land without right and they said: 'Who is mightier than us in strength?' See they not that Allah Who created them was mightier in strength than them. And they used to deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.)! So, We sent upon them a furious (sarsar) wind in days of evil omen (for them) that We might give them a taste of disgracing torment in this present worldly life. But surely, the torment of the Hereafter will be more disgracing, and they will never be helped. And as for Thamud, We showed them the path of truth but they preferred blindness to guidance; so a destructive awful cry (the Sa`iqah) of disgracing torment seized them because of what they used to earn. And We saved those who believed and had Taqwa (Piety.)" (Holy Qur'an, 41:15-18)

And as I woke in the morning I see the same… pop-up windows, thongs creeping from the low rise jeans, marijuana smoke, empty Inspiral boxes

"and they said: 'Who is mightier than us in strength?'" means, they boasted of their physical strength, and power; they thought that this would protect them from Allah's punishment.

I see today so many people fly with the Grey Goose, resend the hidden numbers in their cell phone directory, and these who mock me…and say that “ You are lost, You are crazy and sucked into a religion that will get you nowhere, that irfan you are missing out on everything man, what happened to you, we all know its just a phase and you’ll be back to your old self again, we miss you man at the jam, at the cypher, and the party, in her room” while I feel I am never doing enough, trying to humble trying to be modest, worrying that I am never repenting enough, worrying about if I am working enough for Allah (all praises be to Him) to be content with me…

"And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious (sarsar) wind." (Holy Qur'an, 69:6). (Sarsar) means a very cold wind. It also made a furious sound. Additionally, there is a famous river in the east which is called Sarsar because of the noise it makes as it flows.

And I think. The city, the civilization, the people with no love, no fear, no thanks of the One who gave them everything. Indeed, a life that loaned to a Human is then taken away.

I wake up, from the eight odd hours of which I could be dead, apart from my heart beating. I wake up and smell the cannabis vapor, see the beer stained shirt, a woman leading the Friday prayer, muslimwakeup.com, hooking up with that blonde chick, culture, tradition, losing virginity at the age of 14 to a partner who will barely ever again be seen….the fallout

Its just me though…

Civilization of which I am apart of; is it as so?

Thamud Aad is it here again, right before me?

Awaken I look, and see this civilization around me, when the small things of life like a pop-up window shows everything but a woman’s private part, when the capitalistic system in which I am apart is partly driven by sex? And sex? Where I see more and more Sex and lust, which are not even connected to love…instead glued to the addiction to a momentary bliss that is nothing compared to an eternity in Junnah… Sex? Where even when that momentary bliss can not be reached, medicines, therapy and 5th grade health classes are implemented to make sure it occurs… And love is so cliché, almost a commodity, almost something that is used with blackmail and seduction. And online dating/romantic prone social scenes are just so common and directed to every sort of social and religious sect. Correct me if I am wrong, BUT IS THIS THE CIVILIZATION WE ARE LIVING IN? And if so… does Thamud or Aad come to mind? It does to me. For in a split second this whole civilization could be gone.

And to allow myself to miss that prayer, to commit that sin, KNOWING THAT ITS WRONG. To give mindless excuses, when I may not wake up again, when I may not be alive to shut off this computer, to even proof read this entry…

So I depend on Allah, love Him, and thank Him for my pain and happiness
I hope and pray to die as a slave for Him, to die with Allah being content with me
That is how I wish to leave this dunya, and I pray to keep that in my heart all the time
and to utter and practice the Shahada with my last breath, with that last drop of saliva from my tongue…

There is none worthy of worship other than Allah, and Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) is His last messenger.

Asalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,

Masha Allah. I hope you keep writing more of your pieces and rhyming more of your thoughts insha Allah.

"And if so… does Thamud or Aad come to mind?"

Pompeii comes to mind. Read about it's history...fahshaa galore. Going to a prostitituion house was like a trip to Mcdonalds; they even had carved picture menus on the top of the wall like they have at chinese food stores.

Look what happened to the people of pompeii.

Asalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,

This is a very good article written on Aiden Delgado, a teacher and a former army reservist who servded in Iraq. A son of a diplomat, he had spent over 7 years in Egypt as a child where he became fluent in arabic and in arab culture. Here is a quite from the article:

"In one government class for seniors, Delgado presented graphic images, his own photos of a soldier playing with a skull, the charred remains of children, kids riddled with bullets, a soldier from his unit scooping out the brains of a prisoner. Some students were squeamish, like myself, and turned their heads. Others rubbed tears from their eyes. But at the end of the question period, many expressed appreciation for opening a subject that is almost taboo. "If you are old enough to go to war," Delgado said, "you are old enough to know what really goes on." It is a rare moment when American students, who play video war games more than baseball, are exposed to the realities of occupation. "

Simply beautiful. How many of us are truly awake?...We simply carry out the functions of life without really tasting he reason for life...

Everything seems 2 be topsy turvy in 2day's time...
As a scholar said, " The woman who remains at home, protects her chastity and serves a homecooked meal to her husband and child is 'retrogressive' and 'backward', while the women who adorns herself, exposing her body and smiling at strange men while serving them food on an airplane , this women is seen as 'progressive' and 'free'.Where's the sense?

Where a young gal or boy who are trying to be good muslims are mocked at by their own MUSLIM flesh and blood!

Where the more crude and immoral people are the more they idolized!I read an article once where a pop star actually urinated on his willing audience, Na'oozubillah!

...on and on and on it goes...we should remember is that these are the signs of the Day of Reckoning.. Oh Allah make us ones who take heed of your warning signs and save us from fitnah! Ameen

subhanallah, bro!
that is why, hijra or immigration to a muslim land or away from land of kufr or harb is the way to go! Muslims should try to think about making hijra.
