losing hope

by Gillette aka Hassan[uddin] Khaja

the muslims will never call to anything except unity
will abandon the sunnah
to please the whole ummah
and ignore their Lord
with Whom they've grown bored
to Whom they refuse to draw towards

the muslims will never submit
to The Narration
and the narrations
of the submitters
rather, they submit to the quitters
and sell the sunnah to the highest bidder

the beards and scarves will never stop growing
until they cover their dead and dying hearts
hearts that
CRAVE
the attention of the opposite
SEX
they put being friends over
being brothers and sisters

the leaders will never lead
they'll follow
and swallow and hide their honor and pride
come dig with me
together, we can bury the ummah's dignity
so everyone will be happy

the caller will never lose hope

Asalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,

Hassan,

Your poem is awesome masha Allah. You should read it out next time you have a chance insha Allah.

Although, do brothers really grow their beards just for the sake of impressing women? I thought it would be really hard socially to grow a beard just for the sake of someone or something, because there is so much pressure from the outside world to fit in and shave. If so, then as soon as that someone or something is taken out of the picture they will obviously give into the outside pressure and shave.

Hassan, that is mashaAllah one of the most beautiful couplets you have ever put together.

I want to ask a question that may be "dumb". I'm not asking because I disagree, I'm asking because I don't know. How would you define brother/sister without using the term "friend"?

There's an article coming up on Hidaya that should answer that question for you, inshaAllah. Watch for it in the next day or two.

The word hidaayah, linguistically meaning direction and guidance is used in two senses in the Qur'aan.

1. Guidance of clarification and direction, not taking into account whether the person to whom it has been clarified traverses the path of guidance or not.

With this respect is the saying of Allah,

"And as for the Thamud then We guided them but they preferred blindness over guidance." [Fussilat (41):17]

Meaning: We made clear to them the True Way upon the tongue of our Prophet Saalih, upon him and our Prophet be peace and blessings, despite the fact that they did not traverse this way as proven by His saying, "but they preferred blindness over guidance."

With this respect also is His saying,

"Indeed, We guided him, whether he be grateful or ungrateful." [Al-Insaan (76):3]

Meaning: We have made clear to him the Way of Good and the Way of Evil as proven by His saying, "whether he be grateful or ungrateful."

2. The specific type of guidance which is Allaah bestowing His Grace upon the servant by making him conform to the Way of Truth.

With this respect is His sayings,

"They are the ones whom Allaah guided, so follow their guidance." [Al-An'aam (6):90]

"And whosoever Allaah Wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islaam." [Al-An'aam (6):125]

When you come to understand this then any difficulties in understanding the following sayings of Allaah will also be removed.

"Indeed! You [O Muhammad] cannot guide those you love, but Allaah guides whom He Wills." [Al-Qasas (28):56]

"And indeed you [O Muhammad] are guiding [mankind] to the Straight Path." [Ash-Shuraa (42):52]

Because the aspect of guidance that has been negated is the specific guidance as this is in the Hands of Allaah Alone. As for the aspect of guidance that has been affirmed then it is the general guidance which is to make clear the Way of Truth. And the Messenger of Allaah (SAW) explained this to the extent that it became like a great white plain whose night is like its day.

There is also a third sense to the word guidance that was mentioned by ibn al-Qayyim, and that is guidance on the Day of Judgement to the path to Paradise - this being the bridge leading to it. So the one who is guided in this life to the Straight Path will be guided to the straight path in the Hereafter that leads to Paradise. His firmness on the path that Day will be dependent on how firmly he trod the Straight Path in this life.

Ummm...the last post didn't consist of my words. The brother who put together the tafsir of Suratul Fatihah, from which I quoted, synthesized information from the explanations of At-Tabari, Al-Qurtubi, Ibn Kathir, Ash-Shawkani, As-Sa'di, and Ash-Shanqiti.

The article itself was a PDF, and I couldn't copy and paste it when I wanted to send it to Brother Talal. So I typed that quote out and sent it.

But then I figured, "why let all that typing go to waste?" So I posted it here so that as many people as possible could benefit.

That hit hardest, very deep masha Allah. Its just something we see happening everyday and I guess directly or indirectly many of us are involved in doing just that__ burying the ummah's dignity so everyone will be happy. Subhan' Allah, its amazing how the concept of pleasing Everyone is important enough to sacrifice religion, morals, and values for yet to please the One, Allah (swt) that truly matters has become so insignificant.

Well, very nice poem, Masha Allah.

May Allah (SWT) make us among those that help to thrive and strengthen our Ummah insha Allah, and make us among those on the one, straight path, insha Allah. Ameen

The first three lines-
"the muslims will never call to anything except unity
will abandon the sunnah
to please the whole ummah"

It happens every day and everywhere- especially on college campuses with MSA's.
