Distracted

by AlBushra

"I want my heart to beat for Allah--- I want my mind to think of Allah--- I want my soul to desire Allah."

Distractions preoccupy my heart, mind, and soul
Fogging up my life's one and only goal

The pleasure of Allah subhanhutala I seek to attain
Savior from the fire and every bit of pain

My heart races, I am not me
Sometimes happy, sometimes depressed, its very uneasy

The mistakes that I have made I wonder about,
Despairing and overlooking the alternative-the righteous route

I claim "I want my heart to beat for Allah" yet do very little
I ponder about my life , but forget it is but brittle

My mind is over and yonder, here and there, to my right and left
I want it to think of Him , yet it's a victim of theft.

Shaytaan's treacherous goal is causing impurity to my soul
While I want it to desire Allah subhanhutala, and fulfill a true a'bidahs role.

Shaytaan is from fire and I am of clay
Clay being stronger can put out fire any given day,

Allah's mercy I should seek for He is al ghafur ar rahim
In Him is refuge from our enemy, as-shaytaan ar-rajim

Keeping with just the topic of Distraction...here is a segway:

The catholics & the protestants and almost all Christian faiths do not support the evolutionary view that man/woman have evolved from apes...like wise us Muslims have the same belief and understanding...Alhamdulillah.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060830/ts_nm/pope_evolution_dc

But, then let me throw this twist of a question...What if, other than man (or bani Adam), almost all living creatures did go thru evolution and did get evolved as Scientist have since proposed/discovered since Darwin? Is this not within the realm of possibilities especially since we have fossils and various artifacts across the globe that supports this type of process of creation...something to ponder about eh...here is a Quranic ayat that may hint to this...Allahu Aalim:

29:20 Say: "Travel through the earth and see how Allah did originate creation; so will Allah produce a later creation: for Allah has power over all things."

Personally, I believe that Evolution did happen and still does happen in Allah's creation...EXCEPT, that we modern day Human beings (or the children of ADAM & EVE) were created and introduced from Heavens on this evolutionary Earth...well basically, in sci-fi lingo...we humans are the "aliens" who came down from space and have made this our home among creations that went through the process of Evolution...which is all by ALLAH.

36:79 Say, "He will give them life Who created them for the first time! for He is Well-versed in every kind of creation!-

Br. Gillette, I am counting on you to delete this if it doesn't make sense to you.

As salaamu 'alaikum,

I would encourage anyone pondering evolution from the Islamic perspective to study the works of brother Harun Yahya.

Salaam:

I haven't read any books of Harun Yahya, nor do I plan to...insha'Allah.

But, I will Insha'Allah, write more in detail on this... in the mean time let me pose this question to everyone:

Allah says in Quraan about the creation of Adam (aley-hes-salaaam):
2:30 AND LO! [21] Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to establish upon earth one who shall inherit it." [22] They said: "Wilt Thou place on it such as will spread corruption thereon and shed blood -whereas it is we who extol Thy limitless glory, and praise Thee, and hallow Thy name?" [God] answered: "Verily, I know that which you do not know."

Question for everyone to ponder:
How do the Angels know that the progeny of Adam will spread corruption and kill each other on earth? Eventhough Adam was not created before this point in time and he never acted (as far as my understanding goes) in violence in front of the Angels...So how can Angel infer that Human beings will be troublemakers - did the Angels know of the future or had ilm of Ghaib? Not really....so why and how did they made that statement with so conviction...

If you think about this dialogue in Quraan between Allah and HIS angels upon the creation of Adam (aley-hes-salaam), really deep enough, then you would understand something that will be abundantly clear...and you wont have problems in accepting the concept of Evolution.

I will leave it to that.

I hope someone can relate to what i just said...insha'Allah.

May Allah bless the muslimeen of today, and the past, and of the future...one and all...and May HE be pleased with us and grant HIS Mercy on us in Aakhirah...Ameen

Here is a reminder for myself (foremost), insha'Allah:

Keep your heart clean from anything that can be tainted by Shaitaan....meaning, if you have Dunya in your heart (kids, money, career, position/power, etc) then Shaitaan will use these as catalyst and make them grow in your heart till you cant think of anything but these worldly affairs...they will permeate in your actions, your conversation, and your thoughts...he will try to use them to sow animosity among us, our family, among muslims, and among all humanity...till our minds are conluded of ill actions towards each other.

On the contrary...

Blessed is a soul that lives in this life (as a father/mother, husband/wife, brother/sister) but keeps on nourishing the Love for ALLAH and Rasul'Allah (Sal-lal-la-hu-alay-he-wasalaam) in his/her heart and seeks the middle way in all of their affairs...which is the way of Islaam.

For the record, I've never heard of a book called "Tarjumul Qur'an" by Ibn Abbas. My guess is that, if there were such a book, it would be translated and published by hundreds of publishing companies. If such a book does exist, and it hasn't been published extensively, may Allah (Ta'ala) help us.

I'm not sure exactly where you heard this phrase, but Ibn Mas'ood called Ibn Abbas "The best tarjumaan [interpreter of] al-Qur'an" (Recorded by Hakim, quoted by Al-Albani). Perhaps you misunderstood someone else quoting this narration?

If you want the interpretations of Ibn Abbas regarding the Qur'an, the best source is the tafsir of Ibn Kathir.

Here's an article regarding interpreting the Qur'an:

I know when I was in Pakistan we used to have patakhas and Phuljarris going around...but whats the religious/spiritual significance of this night? I know its also referred to as the night when all your rizk/fortunes are allocated for the year...Allahu-Aaalim.

Any comments and discussion based on hadeeths would be appreciated, and hope this will benefit everyone.

Salaam Everyone:

Well, here is an article that would shed some more light for everyone about the ayats in Quraan on the creation of ADAM Alehes-salaam and the angels debating with Allah...of how mankind will behave on earth...

The angels were so convinced about this, as if they had witnessed humans (or humanoids) on earth, prior to creation of Adam...

here is the link to the article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060913/ap_on_sc/the_last_neanderthals

Please pay special attention to this part:

"Neanderthals were stocky, muscular hunters in Europe and western Asia who appeared more than 200,000 years ago. They died out after anatomically modern humans arrived in Europe some 35,000 to 40,000 years ago and spread west into Neanderthal territory.

Scientists have long been fascinated by the last days of the Neanderthals. Were they doomed because they couldn't compete with the encroaching modern humans for resources, or because they caught new germs from the moderns, or because of climate change? Did the two groups have much contact, and what kind?

They didn't appear to encounter each other in Gibraltar at Gorham's Cave. More than 5,000 years separate the last traces of the Neanderthals from the earliest evidence of modern humans, Finlayson said."

And obviously, only ALLAH knows the Best...

Subhan'Allah...it is really amazing (and kind of an honor) to be living the current era as a muslim.

I am not sure the issues and problems against muslims & Islaam that keep cropping up, in days. weeks, months , and years will slow down or sieze all together in our life time.

It sure is hard to be a muslim nowadays...everyone looking at us with suspicious eyes and resentment...more importantly, people are just plain afraid to even approach us...and unfortunately, lack of understanding always breeds ignorance.

But, I look at it as opportunities (and tons of it) for us to reach out and do Dawah...on all levels...to our neighbors, our colleagues, and to each other, insha'Allah-ur-Rahmaan.

Allah brought us in these times to make a difference and to be a catalyst for the rest to see how beautiful this religion islaam is, and what beautiful the personality of Rasulallah (sal-lal-la-hu-ale-he-wa-sall-lam) and his Sunnah is (which is the way of salvation)...
